How do I join the group?

The groups are open to all people with chronic pain.  Those supporting people with chronic pain are also encourage to attend.  All support groups are Free so bring a family member or friend, come early and enjoy!

Our support groups encourage education and support.  Come to a meeting to learn about how to live with pain and gain support.  Plus, check out our resource section of our web site to get more information from the Internet.

Can I attend the Spinal Cord Stimulator meeting even though I do not have an implant?

All meetings are open to everyone. The spinal cord stimulator meeting can provide those needing an implant with information and support.  However, chronic pain is the main focus in this group as it is in every group.  Come, enjoy...implant or not, your welcome at this meeting!!

Who is Dr. David Hanks?

Dr. David Hanks is a Clinical and Medical Psychologist in the Plano area.  Dr. Hanks has been involved in support groups for about 20 years.  He led the first group for people with Reflex Sympathetic and Implantable Pain therapies in the state of Texas.

What is Chronic Pain?

  • A persistent state of pain whereby the cause of the pain cannot be removed. Chronic pain is often associated with long-term incurable or intractable medical conditions or disease. 
     
  • Chronic pain is that which lasts a long time (over six months) and is not relieved by standard medical management. Chronic pain may result from a previous injury long since healed. Or it may have an ongoing cause, such as arthritis, cancer, nerve damage, or chronic infection. With chronic pain, normal lifestyles can be restricted or even impossible. Many people suffer with chronic pain, unaware that there are a variety of treatment options that can help them live more normal lives.
